The Hexagon Cup Kicks Off After Months of Preparation

Today marks the launch of an unprecedented event in the history of padel. Enrique Buenaventura, founder of the Hexagon Cup tournament, is thrilled with the reception of the tournament: "After six months, the dream of the Hexagon Cup has become a reality. The players are delighted with the competition; there's a great atmosphere, with an incredible Fan Zone, and we encourage people to come and enjoy the event," concluded the executive.

The tournament began with a fun and charitable derby between Legends of Real Madrid and Legends of Atlético de Madrid. Both teams, led by Iker Casillas and Juanfran Torres, enjoyed a pleasant day of padel at the central court of Madrid Arena, serving as an appetizer for next Sunday's derby at Santiago Bernabéu. Casillas once again demonstrated his fondness for racquet sports: "I love padel and seeing an event like this in Madrid fills me with pride. Tournaments like this aid in the internationalisation of the sport, and I'm delighted to be here today." Meanwhile, Juanfran Torres highlighted the growth of padel: "A few years ago, padel players didn't have such visibility, and tournaments like the Hexagon show how much the sport is growing. The racquet derby featured numerous legends from both teams such as Alfonso Pérez, Dani García Lara, Mista, Miguel Ángel Moyá, Luis Milla, and Roberto Jiménez. The first matchup of the week went in favour of Atlético de Madrid.

As for the competition, the first match in Hexagon Cup history was won by the Rafa Nadal Academy powered by Richard Mille. The pair Daniel Santigosa and Collado triumphed over Alonso Rodríguez and Pablo Cardona of the Hexagon Team with a tight score of 6-2, 3-6, and 10-2. The second match in the Next Gen category was won by Alex Chozas and Emilio Chamero of the ElevenEleven Team USA against David Gala and Emilio Jensen of RL9 (6-3, 1-6, and 10-3). In the opening match on the central court of Madrid Arena, Martita Ortega and Gemma Triay secured a victory for the Rafa Nadal Academy powered by Richard Mille against Sofía Araujo and Delfina Brea of the AD/vantage Padel Team in a balanced match resolved in the super tiebreak by 6-3, 4-6, and 10-5.
