25.10.2023

Draft now open for players to register interest to play in the inaugural Hexagon Cup event.

Madrid, 18 October 2023 - Hexagon Cup, the brand-new padel tournament on a mission to transform the sport of 20 x 10, announces today that the process is now officially open for players to register to be part of the Draft for this innovative and revolutionary competition, taking place in Madrid from 31 January to 4 February 2024.

The Hexagon Cup is an annual, global padel exhibition which will see the world’s top male, female and ‘next gen’ players join forces in teams to compete for a one million euro prize fund. Each team will have six players, made up of two males, two females and two ‘next gen’ players.  Along with the team’s boss, a male and female Franchise player per team will be tasked with selecting their additional four team mates at the Draft, to be held at the end of November.

To be considered as Next Gen, players must not be older than 22, nor can they have been ranked among the top 50 in the FIP ranking or professional ranking in force. The combined age of the Next Gen pair must not exceed 40 years old.

During the Draft, each team will take it in turn to pick a team mate, one at a time per round, from the pool of registered draft players, meaning any potential players must be officially registered to be in with a chance of selection. The only exception being for the Hexagon Cup team, for which fans will be responsible for selecting the team’s Next Gen players.

The Hexagon Cup team has already confirmed Paquito Navarro (world champion, former world number one and with 25 World Padel Tour titles to his name) and Alejandra Salazar (five times world champion, former world number one and 50 World Padel Tour titles) as its franchise players. Conversations with high profile team bosses and the world’s best players are currently being finalised, with teams and franchise players to be revealed in the coming weeks.

"We are pleased to announce that our website is now open for players to register to take part in the Hexagon Cup draft. This exciting new event will feature the world’s top padel players, and the most exciting next gen talent, competing together for a huge prize fund of one million euros." said Carlos Almazan, General Sporting Manager, Hexagon Cup.

"As this is a global tournament, we encourage players from all over the world to sign up for their chance to be part of this innovative new padel team format. Everyone is welcome, there is no limit to the number of places available but you must be registered to be selected so don’t delay, get involved!"

How can you participate?

It’s simple, head to the event’s official website and fill in the draft registration form, here.  (https://www.hexagoncup.com/). LINK TO COME. The deadline for submissions is Friday 10th November, 2023.

The data that potential players will have to provide includes personal information (name, age, nationality, sponsors, etc.) and also more technical data such as court position (drive or backhand), hand/arm they play with (right or left) and ranking in different rankings such as the World Padel Tour, International Padel Federation and PadelA1. For the Game", Hexagon Cup comes with the ambition of offering a disruptive approach, as well as the firm intention of transforming the sport of padel. To this end, it proposes to bring together the stars of padel, who will compete in a first class environment and facilities and who will give the public a fundamental role in the development of the competition through a leisure offer of the highest level.
