Hexagon Cup confirms Team Bella Puerto Rico, led by Puerto Rican businessmen María Esteve and Carlos López-Lay, as the sixth and final team.

Madrid, 27 November, 2023 - Hexagon Cup, the new padel tournament whose mission is to transform the sport of 20 x 10, announces the arrival of the sixth and last team confirmed for its first edition: Team Bella Puerto Rico, chaired by Puerto Rican businessmen María Esteve and Carlos López-Lay, owners of the Bella automobile group.

Team Bella Puerto Rico joins the prestigious names of the Rafa Nadal Academy powered by Richard Mille team, RL9 by the Barcelona FC footballer Robert Lewandowski, Team AD/vantage by legendary tennis player Andy Murray and ElevenEleven Team USA, owned by U.S actress Eva Longoria, along with a fan-led Hexagon Cup team.

Carlos López-Lay, one of the owners of Team Bella Puerto Rico, comments: The Hexagon Cup is a sporting and entertainment experience like no other that has been done in the world of padel so ensuring that Puerto Rico is represented in this all-star tournament it is a great satisfaction for María and I. In this way we reaffirm our business mission of promoting our country through a sport on the rise and with international significance. In addition, it will be the first time that a padel event is broadcast live to enthusiasts around the world through Telemundo Puerto Rico, among others. The projection that the local paddle sport will achieve and the island as a destination will be very important for local sport and tourism.”


Another of the innovative aspects of the Hexagon Cup lies in its team model, in which each of the six teams will be chaired by a world-renowned figure from different sports, business or entertainment industries.

Team Bella Puerto Rico also demonstrates its commitment to this tournament by incorporating ambassadors from the sports and entertainment field who will support the team. Among them are Mónica Puig, Olympic champion tennis player, Major League star and member of the Baseball Hall of Fame Iván “Pudge” Rodríguez, basketball star and NBA  champion José Juan Barea, well-known actor and entertainer Julián Gil and the television host Jaime Mayol.

An all-star tournament to take padel to another level

Born under the motto “For the Fans. For the Players. For the Game”, the Hexagon Cup is an innovative padel tournament that brings together male, female and Next Gen players (under 22 years of age), along with other prominent teams including the Rafa Nadal Academy powered by Richard Mille team, RL9 by the Barcelona FC footballer Robert Lewandowski, Team AD/vantage by legendary tennis player Andy Murray and ElevenEleven Team USA, owned by Eva Longoria. Everyone competes for an impressive €1 million prize, creating an exciting team competition and an exciting experience for players and fans.

Each team owner has selected two franchise players who will serve as team captains. The franchise players will be revealed later this week and will join Paquito Navarro and Alejandra Salazar, who have already been confirmed as the players for the Hexagon Cup team.

Team owners, along with their franchise players, will select four remaining teammates; one man, one woman and two "next gen" (under 22 years of age) during the Player Draft, which will take place at the end of November. In a single decision, fans have the final responsibility of choosing the players who will be part of the Hexagon Cup team, with this online draft currently open at www.hexagoncup.com, with final votes closing on Tuesday, 28 November.

During the tournament itself, the six teams will be divided into two qualifying groups, competing in a series of exciting head-to-head matchups. Only the top two teams from each group will advance to the finals, where the inaugural Hexagon Cup champion will be crowned, with a prize pool of one million euros up for grabs.

The first edition of the Hexagon Cup will take place in the historic Madrid Arena during the month of February, an ideal setting to create a great show. The event will include an attractive Fan Village with autograph signing sessions, player training areas, live concerts, entertainment, shops, exhibitions, food trucks and high-quality dining options. World-class VIP hospitality experiences will also be offered, all designed to give sports and entertainment fans a truly unforgettable experience.

Under the motto “For the Fans. For the Players. For the Game”, this revolutionary competition was born with the ambition of offering a new and disruptive approach, as well as the firm purpose of transforming the sport of padel. To do this, it has designed a completely new format in which six teams made up of three couples each (one male couple, one female couple and one made up of stars of the future) will compete to win a one-million euro prize fund.
